The 41st year of Bastar Sevak Mandal was marked as the year of “Service with Excellence”. The year focused on quality executing of previous programs as well as exploring new areas of achievements with the prime focus on core values of the organization. The areas of our excellence include sustainable agriculture, livelihood enhancement, women and child development, education, health along with assistance to the youth of tribal population of all the seven districts of the Bastar division in Chhattisgarh state.

The various approaches through our programs focused on up-lifting and enhancing the quality of life without touching the culture & beliefs of Tribals in the region. Quality education was the focal point while implementing the educational activities and Govt. Schools played an active part in it. The qualitative aspects were ensured by enhancing the capacity through organizing training programs for both students and teachers. Regular efforts ensured the enrollments of children among the govt. primary schools. Sensitization programs and camps addressing nutrition, personal hygiene, pre and post natal care, assured wellbeing of pregnant Mother, Child and Adolescents. In addition, Govt. Health Services were made accessible through developing linkages with Govt. Institutions at district level.

Vocational trainings to youth helped them to incorporate technical skills along with various life skills to ensure a superior future in terms of livelihood opportunities. On the other hand, livelihood opportunities for women were ensured through entrepreneurships development programs, agricultural assistance and focusing on linkages with banking institutions.

Watershed program in two districts takes care of Natural Resource Management for enhancing livelihood of the poor. The sustainable agriculture was implemented through organic farming by organizing capacity building program for the farmers and introduction of new technology like SRI, integrated and mix vegetable cropping etc.

Facilitating the SHGs, PRI members and other stakeholders to implement MGNREGA smoothly through Cluster Facilitation Team (CFT) was another highlighted achievement of the Year. The Team facilitates the community organizations to raise the awareness under MGNREGA converging with other programs.

Community involvement with ownership is always the core issue and approach of implementation of our programs. Bastar Sevak Mandal always checks in the enhanced participation of beneficiary community right from Planning, Management and Implementation. In this regard, we strive to form sustainable Self-Help Groups and village based groups like CBOs, VDCs, Labor Groups, Education Committees etc along with Capacity Building of the same.
